SoftBank Vision Fund announced its first major close with over $93 billion of committed capital

SBG created the SoftBank Vision Fund as a result of its strongly held belief that the next stage of the Information Revolution is underway, and building the businesses that will make this possible will require unprecedented large scale long-term investment. Additionally, the Fund’s portfolio companies are expected to significantly benefit from SBG’s global scale and operational expertise, as well as its ecosystem of group portfolio companies (including Sprint and Yahoo Japan); this will thereby help them to accelerate their own growth profile.

The Fund will be SBG’s primary vehicle to realise its SoftBank 2.0 vision, with preferred access to investments of U.S. $100 million or more that meet the Fund’s investment strategy.

Masayoshi Son, Chairman & CEO of SoftBank Group Corp. said, “Technology has the potential to address the biggest challenges and risks facing humanity today. The businesses working to solve these problems will require patient long-term capital and visionary strategic investment partners with the resources to nurture their success. SoftBank has long made bold investments in transformative technologies and supported disruptive entrepreneurs. The SoftBank Vision Fund is consistent with this strategy and will help build and grow businesses creating the foundational platforms of the next stage of the Information Revolution.”

H.E. Yasir Al Rumayyan, Managing Director of the Public Investment Fund of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, added, “Our investment in the SoftBank Vision Fund alongside other sovereign and corporate investors is an important part of our overall investment strategy. We are building a portfolio that is diversified across sectors, asset classes and geographies, and expect the Vision Fund to act as a platform to access a range of exciting, emerging opportunities in the technology sector. We expect that this will, in turn, help enable the Public Investment Fund’s role in supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to develop a diversified, knowledge-based economy.”

Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Group CEO of Mubadala Investment Company, said, “Our participation in the SoftBank Vision Fund perfectly complements Mubadala’s strategy as a long-term global investor and partner to the technology sector’s high-growth companies. Technology and innovation are central to the UAE’s economic diversification strategy, and we believe the Vision Fund has the scale to deploy significant capital into these disruptive industries that are shaping the future.”

Investment Strategy

The Fund will target meaningful, long-term investments in companies and foundational platform businesses that seek to enable the next age of innovation.

The Fund will seek to acquire minority and majority interests in both private and public companies, from emerging technology businesses to established, multi-billion dollar companies requiring substantial growth funding.

The Fund is expected to be active across a wide range of technology sectors, including but not limited to: IoT, artificial intelligence, robotics, mobile applications and computing, communications infrastructure and telecoms, computational biology and other data-driven business models, cloud technologies and software, consumer internet businesses and financial technology.

The Fund will have the right to acquire certain investments already acquired (or agreed to be acquired) by the SoftBank Group, including 24.99% of its holding in ARM, and investments in Guardant Health, Intelsat, NVIDIA, OneWeb and SoFi.

Key Leadership

The Fund will be advised by wholly-owned subsidiaries of SBG, known collectively as “SB Investment Advisers.”

Rajeev Misra will serve as the CEO of SB Investment Advisers and will be a member of the Investment Committee. He will play a key role in all Fund transactions, supported by a highly-experienced global team across offices in London, San Carlos, and Tokyo.

Nizar Al-Bassam and Dalinc Ariburnu of newly formed Centricus, who advised on structuring and fund raising efforts for the Vision Fund, will continue their roles as advisers.

ARM group

  • SBG’s commitment to invest U.S. $28 billion in the Fund will be partially satisfied through the in-kind contribution of approximately 24.99% of the shares in ARM Holdings plc, at a value of approximately U.S.$8.2 billion.
  • ARM will continue to be a consolidated subsidiary of SBG. SBG will continue to control (directly and indirectly) 100% of the voting rights of ARM, through its retained ownership of approximately 75.01% of the shares and its ownership of the entities managing and advising the Fund.
  • In the course of discussions with certain investors in the Fund, a portion of ARM was requested to be transferred into the Fund based on the shared vision on the huge growth potential of ARM
  • There will be no change to the Board, governance structure or operations of ARM as a result of the transfer.
  • The investors in the Fund will not gain any special commercial benefits from ARM’s operating business.

Relationship to SoftBank Group Corp.

  • The Fund’s general partner is a wholly-owned subsidiary of SBG, as are each of the SB Investment Advisers, including the Fund’s primary investment adviser, SB Investment Advisers (UK) Limited.
  • SBG has subscribed for commitments of U.S. $28 billion to the Fund to be contributed through a combination of equity in ARM and cash on hand. The Fund will be consolidated by SBG for accounting purposes.
  • While the Fund will be the primary investment vehicle for investments in excess of U.S.$100 million consistent with the Fund’s investment strategy, SBG (and its subsidiaries) may continue to make certain investments outside of the Fund, including (but not limited to) investments in early stage VC, strategic investments done at the operating company level, and/or other investments which do not fall within the Fund’s investment strategy and criteria.

Lucca Bozzi Launches Solar Wallet – Sails 850% Past Its @Kickstarter Crowdfunding Campaign Goal of $5,000

Solar Wallet incorporates advanced charging technologies and an integrated charging cable for the internal power bank and solar cell, to extend mobile devices’ battery life up to 10 hours

By Robert Hoskins

San Francisco, CaliforniaLucca Bozzi introduced its Solar Wallet on Kickstarter, a luxury wallet that gives users the power to freely charge their devices on the go using solar power.

Solar Wallet is a intelligent technology gadget that serves as portable charging system and wallet

Solar Wallet is a intelligent technology gadget that serves as portable charging system and wallet

“The most frequently carried daily devices are the phone and wallet. Your phone has consistently evolved over the past years, but why hasn’t your wallet?” said Seva Mouler, Lucca Bozzi’s Co-Founder and CEO. “Our focus has been creating a beautiful, timeless design while also working with the top engineers to perfect a piece the majority of the world carries daily.”

Solar Wallet is a modern interpretation of the classic bi-fold wallet that incorporates advanced charging technologies and an integrated charging cable for the internal power bank and solar cell, to extend mobile devices’ battery life up to 10 hours.

With a patent-pending construction, the wallet maintains thinness, durability and a lightweight design. Originating from the internal power bank is the custom integrated charging cable that is compatible with USB-C, Apple Lightning and Micro-USB devices. The charging cable tucks inside the stow-away compartment eliminating cable-hassle and the need to bring an external cord.

The wallet’s solar component offers yet another source for battery life. “One of our many aims for Solar Wallet was to encourage the use of sustainable energy in our everyday life,” Mouler adds. Users are able to cultivate renewable energy through any light source; e.g. sun coming through the windows of your home and even through lightbulbs in the workplace.

“In a time where we rely on our tech more every day, we sought to create a versatile wallet that addressed the unique and evolving charging needs of the millennial, while maintaining the luxury of a designer wallet,” said Mouler.

The Solar Wallet campaign was launched on Kickstarter on April 5 and is over 850% funded after 1 week. Estimated shipping is December 2017.

Solar Wallet Features Include:

  • Internal power bank for +10 hours of extra charge
  • RFID protection against electronic data theft
  • Android to Apple connectivity – use a micro-USB cable to charge an iPhone or iPad
  • Intelligent Charge – passthrough charge auto-optimizes between mobile device & wallet
  • Quickdraw access for most used cards
  • Integrated charging cable
  • Compatible with USB-C, Apple Lightning and Micro-USB
  • Solar rechargeable – harness the power of the sun and any light source
  • Spring loaded money clip for cash storage
  • Storage for up to eight cards
  • Super slim and lightweight
  • 100% genuine Nappa leather

Solar Wallet can be purchased on Kickstarter for an early bird discounted rate of only $99 for a limited time. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $199.

Lucca Bozzi is a company focused on creating fine Italian leather products that incorporate progressive technology, yet maintain the essence of their classic design. Their guiding philosophy is to develop products that evolve and optimize users’ everyday carry.

POMM Inc. Quickly Raises $812,220 With Title IV, Reg A+ Equity Crowdfunding Campaign; Investors See Huge Opportunity to Tap $81.5 Billion Mobile Accessories Marketplace With Smartphone Security Case

18 Jul

Due to an Overwhelming Response From Equity Investors, POMM’s Management Team Is Now Seeking a High-Technology Investor Relations Team With Smartphone & Cyber Security Experience

By Robert Hoskins

San Francisco, CaliforniaPOMM Inc. announced that its equity crowdfunding has successfully raised more than $812,220 for its recently launched Title IV, Reg. A+ equity investment crowdfunding campaign. Accredited and non-accredited investors are recognizing the investment opportunity made possible by the growing demand from consumers and businesses that want privacy and security for their smartphones and to guard against hackers that try to pry into cell phones and Internet backup storage clouds to steal sensitive texts, emails, photos, videos, medical records and credit card information.

POMM Inc. Equity Crowdfunding Investment Opportunties Start at $500 for Biometric Smartphone Security Cases

POMM Inc. Equity Crowdfunding Investment Opportunties Start at $500 for Biometric Smartphone Security Cases

“According to a Smartphone Case Segmentation Research Study more than 75% of all buyers purchase an impact resistant case to protect their cell phones. In addition many users also like to buy smartphone cases that provide either extra battery life for longer time periods between charging or that offer much higher data storage capacity,” said David Freidenberg, POMM’s CEO. “And with the growing problem of malware being downloaded accidentally from popular cell phone apps or hackers breaking into internet backup storage clouds, more and more customers are now seeking better privacy and security measures that guard against hacking attacks. Our POMM delivers all of these benefits and more.”

The POMM is a combined software and hardware solution that enables smartphone users to launch a set of secured applications to manage and share private information. It is implemented via a mini quad-core computer embedded in the smartphone case offering biometric and biologic authentication layers; significant secure storage area and a 50% increase in battery life.

In 2015, the U.S. smartphone industry alone sold $81.5 billion of mobile add-on accessories to a marketplace that has over 2 billion iPhone and Android cell phone customers. Considering the fact that more than 70% of the world’s population will own a smartphone by 2020, it is easy for investors to see the huge growth potential for selling POMM Biometric Smartphone Security Cases to new and existing cell phone owners on a worldwide basis.

The Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for the POMM Smartphone Security Case will be $200 for 64GB of storage, $275 for 128GB, and $350 for the 256GB and commercial quantities for volume buyers that should be available in Q4 2016.

To generate a 10x return-on-investment for investors over the next 3 to 5 years, POMM would only need to sell 500,000 units at $200 per unit or less than 285,715 units at $350. Once POMM units are carried by Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint and other wireless carriers, dealers and resellers as well as big box consumer electronics retailers like BestBuy, Wal-Mart, Amazon, Apple Stores, Target, CDW and others, POMM will be positioned to issue a very attractive Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Equity crowdfunding investment opportunities start at $500 and require reading through the full Title IV, Reg. A+ Equity Crowdfunding Offering Circular located at http://pommoffering.com or call David Freidenberg at (917) 300-0651.

POMM Announces $10 Million Title IV, Reg. A+ Equity Crowdfunding Campaign to Produce a Biometric Security Case That Guards Against Hackers on Apple iPhones and Android Smartphones

11 Jul

The POMM Security Cases Will Target Billions of iPhone and Android Smartphone Customers Who Can Receive Multistep Biometric Authentication, Encrypted Storage and a Secure Set of Applications

By Robert Hoskins

New York, NY – Corporate executives, celebrities, movie stars, government officials or cell phone owners have one thing in common, they are sitting ducks for hackers that are set up to steal sensitive texts, emails, photos, videos and files that are stored on cell phones or backed up on Internet cloud storage services using malware programs such as HummingBad, Stagefright, WireLurker or Xsser.

POMM Biometric Security Snap-On Smartpone Case Guards Against Hackers

POMM Biometric Security Snap-On Smartphone Case Guards Against Hackers

“In addition to malware, it doesn’t take much computer hardware to capture phone numbers out of thin air and use cracking software to discover people’s four-digit security code,” said David Freidenberg, POMM’s CEO. “Thus, once hackers have your phone number they can use security holes in the SS7 telecom switching networks to listen in and record your phone conversations and take pictures with your smartphone’s camera while you’re inside your home or office when you are completely unaware that you are being watched.”

The good news is that there is a solution called POMM™ — Privacy on My Mind. The high-tech Israeli mobile security firm, POMM, Inc., has been working diligently on providing a cost-effective smartphone security case for the past six years. The company has been awarded multiple worldwide patents for its unique technology and is now raising money through an equity crowdfunding campaign.

The money raised is targeted for beginning mass production of its biometric security smartphone case technology and initiating a worldwide marketing campaign to sign up cell phone franchise stores, big box retail locations, resellers, distributors and hire manufacturer’s sales reps on an international basis.

POMM intends to pursue an initial public offering (IPO) in the future and, therefore, non-accredited and accredited investors have the opportunity to get in now and participate in this “Round A” equity raise. This press release is not an offering circular and the $498.80 units (12 shares) can only be purchased after reviewing the entire Title IV, Reg. A+ offering circular and full disclosure information located on the equity crowdfunding profile at: www.pommoffering.com

In 2015, the U.S. mobile accessories market reached $81.5 billion. Of the total amount, an amazing 40% or $32.6 billion was spent on smartphone protective cases followed closely by extended memory and battery technology add-on accessories.

To meet this demand, POMM’s engineering team designed its protective smartphone case to provide a huge amount of encrypted data storage, 50% more battery life and multi-step biometric security authentication system, which will only unlock a smartphone for the true owner. POMM technology also arrives with a set of secured applications, such as safe passwords, secured contacts, messaging and media library and more.

POMM Unveils New Android and iPhone Snap On Biometric Security Case With Up to 256GB of Encrypted Data Storage and a 1500 mAh Lithium Battery for 50% Longer Cell Operation

6 Jul

Customers Will Receive All-Day Power, Six Times More Built-In Local Encrypted Data Storage for Up to 32,000 Photos, 20 Hours of Video or 18,000 Songs as Well as Secured Apps for Sharing Files

By Robert Hoskins

New York, NY – To prevent more waves of worldwide smartphone hacking and embarrassing security breaches, POMM Inc. today rolled out a new type of biometric authentication and data encryption cell phone case that keeps data files private and secure from hackers.

POMM Biometric Security Case to Help Android and Apple iPhones Guard Against Hacker Attacks

POMM Biometric Security Case to Help Android and Apple iPhones Guard Against Hacker Attacks

POMM™ is a must-have add-on for Android Smartphone and Apple iPhone owners that want biometric authentication; a highly secured, personal data storage cloud; and hacker-proof cell phone applications. The POMM also comes with a slim built-in lithium battery that provides up to 50% more battery time.

POMM Spec Sheet: http://privatepomm.com/he/spec-sheet.pdf

Why Do Cell Phones Need Biometric Authentication?
This is an easy question to answer for government officials such as Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump or celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Kate Upton, Kaley Cuoco, and others, whose cellphone iCloud accounts were hacked leading to the discovery of susceptible software apps in over 1 billion Android and iPhones using HummingBad, Xsser or WireLurker.

Why are Smartphones Apps Susceptible to Hacking?
A large number of popular cell phones apps do not have critical user authentication protections. For example, “HTTP Request Hijacking” (HRH) affects at least 10,000 known apps on Apple’s App Store. And this is just one of a hundred ways to hack into what most people think are secure smartphones and Internet backup storage clouds.

What is Biometric Security?
Biometric security allows smartphones to authenticate a user’s identity using fingerprint, iris, face and palm scans as well as certain types of pulse, blood oxidation, body temperature and voice recognition to verify that cell phone users are valid, alive, well and not suffering from coercion.

What is a Private, Secured, Local Storage Cloud?
POMM (Privacy on My Mind™) is a mini-computer encased inside a durable, impact resistant cell phone case that performs biometric authentication as well as implements advanced encryption algorithms. Data is stored in a local, private, and very secure cloud versus Internet-based clouds that are favorite targets of ID theft, hacker attacks and other cyberspace criminal abuse.

Who Needs a POMM?
Hundreds of millions of computer-age, modern economy cell phone users worldwide who want to feel secure in accessing, managing, and updating their digital data files.

When Will the POMM Be Available?
POMM is ready to go to market now and is currently raising $10 million by selling shares via a Title IV, Reg. A+ Equity Crowdfunding Campaign to begin mass production and achieve market penetration. Investors that purchase shares can also receive one of POMM biometric security cases. To learn more, please visit http://pommoffering.com.

Power Practical Launches Kickstarter.com Crowdfunding Campaign to Solve Slow Charging Problem for Android and iPhone SmartPhones

New Practical Meter, Special Charge-Only USB Cables will Maximize Charging Rates for iPhones and Android SmartPhones Commonly Experienced with PCs and Laptops

By Robert Hoskins

Power Practical, a Utah-based start-up, is hoping to shake things up in the USB charging world. Their new device is called the Practical Meter. It monitors charging rates and lets users know when their phone or other USB device is charging at a slow rate. To cover production costs, the company is launching the new product on popular crowdfunding site Kickstarter.

New USB Meter Aimed at Solving Slow-Charging Phones Launches on Kickstarter.com

New USB Meter Aimed at Solving Slow-Charging Phones Launches on Kickstarter.com

Many smartphone users charge their phones on desktops or laptops, oftentimes at rates far slower than expected. In many cases, phones will take over four hours to reach a full charge. This is because USB doesn’t have a well-defined standard for charging above 2.5 watts. It varies from iPhone to Android and so on. To combat this problem, the Practical Meter comes with charge-only cables that maximize charging rates.

The product is now available through a 30-day Kickstarter campaign. Interested backers can receive a Practical Meter and custom charging cables for only $19 USD. People who depend on their phones can rest assured with the Practical Meter. It will immediately identify and solve slow charge times, solving a problem experienced by millions.

David Toledo, founder and engineer at Power Practical, said the new meter will bring attention to a charging problem that millions of people experience. “Many people charge their phones on PCs at work or home, and experience slow charge times,” Toledo said. “The Practical Meter will identify these slow charge times and help users fix them with our fast-charging cables.”

To learn more about the Practical Meter, check out the product’s Kickstarter campaign and watch the video. The product will be available until the campaign ends in July.

Inteliscope Takes Aim with Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign to Fund First Tactical Rifle Adapter for Smartphone Targeting System

Now Hunters and Military Troops Can Use  SmartPhones such as Android or iPhone to Target and Record the Hunt of a Lifetime in the Woods or Real Life Conditions on the Battlefield

By Robert Hoskins

Newly formed company Inteliscope, LLC recently announced the launch of its Inteliscope Tactical Rifle Adapter and Apple device application – the world’s first tactical rifle adapter for smartphones. The iPhone application is being submitted to Apple for review and approval. As the state agency responsible for promoting exciting news for Idaho businesses, Idaho Commerce was thrilled to have a chance to speak with the company about their product.

Inteliscope, LLC Creates First Tactical Rifle Adapter for Smartphones

Inteliscope, LLC Creates Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign to Raise Funds to Create World’s First Tactical Rifle Adapter for Smartphones

Inteliscope, LLC was founded earlier this year in Sandpoint by Jason Giddings, who also established TransluSense, LLC – creator of the Luminae® glass multi-touch keyboard and touchpad. With production facilities in place and TransluSense development continuing, Giddings challenged his mechanical, software and business teams to create the Inteliscope device on an aggressive ten-week schedule.

“We’re ready to get started with what we came to Idaho to do: hire good employees and help the economy of North Idaho,” Giddings said.

Inteliscope products are made up of two parts: a tactical rail mount for an iPhone or iPod and an app that brings critical ballistics and environmental insight to the shooter in real time. For the launch, the company decided to include all three cases in a single product for Apple devices instead of offering three separate products. Thus, when the customer receives the adapter, it will have cases to fit the iPhone 4/4S, iPhone 5, and iPod Touch version 5. The Inteliscope mount system attaches an iPhone or iPod Touch securely to any firearm with a Picatinny (Mil-STD-1913) or Weaver tactical rail, which includes a number of features.

The company also is working with Indiegogo, a crowd-funding platform (similar to Kickstarter), to fund development of the app and hardware for Android phones. If Inteliscope’s campaign is funded, the company plans to have the Android-compatible devices available in August.

The iSmartAlarm Home Security System Closes Crowdfunding Campaign at 450% of Goal on Indiegogo

27 Apr

By Robert Hoskins

iSmart Alarm, Inc. has announced the completion of their Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, reaching their goal of $50,000 in under 3 weeks, and ending the campaign on April 1 at over 450% of the goal.  The fundraising campaign set an important precedent for the crowdfunding industry by launching at one of America’s largest computer trade shows.

The iSmartAlarm home automation devices makes a great solution for millions of renters and homeowners

The iSmartAlarm home automation devices makes a great solution for millions of renters and homeowners

In closing with over $226,000 raised by 1,600 contributors and customers, the iSmartAlarm Home Security System is the 7th most funded technology project in the history of Indiegogo. Manufacturing and assemblage is being completed, and the system is projected to begin shipping at the end of May.

During the campaign, as “Perks” for different levels of contribution, iSmart Alarm, Inc. offered different packages of their home security system, ranging from a dorm or studio to a large house. Contributors could also purchase the devices a la carte as well, and the CubeOne CPU understands and adds them to the network. The system communicates with the user’s smartphone, giving unprecedented access to monitoring, system control, and statistics to increase the safety of home, property, and family.

“The Indiegogo campaign was a great adventure, and we were able to pre-sale to hundreds of families and individuals that are in need of home security but don’t want to pay monthly fees or be locked into contracts. Our goal is to make the iSmartAlarm home security system affordable and available to every family,” said Raymond Meng, Co-Founder and CEO. “We were also able to interact with our customers and fans, evolve our current products to match their needs, and tailor our roadmap to more home automation and smart home devices for the future.”

Now accepting orders on the iSmartAlarm.com eCommerce platform, consumers will be able to purchase packages including motion sensors, door and window sensors, home remote controls and panic alarms, the streaming and pan-tilt iCamera (controllable at any time, from anywhere, from the user’s smartphone), as well as individual devices a la carte. As new devices such as home light control, thermostat control, glass breakage sensors, smoke and carbon monoxide sensors and water leak detectors are added, the user’s system will automatically update to include the new devices.

The idea behind the iSmartAlarm system first began when Steve Jobs’ home was broken into in mid-2012 while under construction, and over $60,000 worth of Apple products and personal belongings were stolen. The iSmartAlarm system integrates with the free iPhone App to allow the user to remotely arm, disarm, and monitor their security system from anywhere, at any time.

iSmartAlarm puts a 21st century spin on traditional security systems. The sleek, sophisticated system utilizes the iPhone to put home security and home control in the palm of its users’ hands. The iSmartAlarm home security system is portable, wireless and requires no contracts or monthly fees. In addition to keeping homes protected, iSmartAlarm has embraced the developer community, with an open platform intended to expand the abilities of the system and increase the speed of the evolution of home security.
